Sina Cup season 3 announced
The organizers behind Sina Cup Supernova Dota 2 Open have announced its third season, with an increase in prizepool and a different tournament format.
Sina, one of China's premier streaming platforms, returns with the third season of its popular online Dota 2 tournament known as Sina Cup Supernova Dota 2 Open. Hosted by Roshan Studios, the third edition comprises of popular teams such as Team DK, Vici Gaming, Invictus Gaming and LGD Gaming - to name a few.
The prizepool has been increased to RMB 90,000 (~ $14,800), compared to RMB 50,000 (~ $8,200) from it's previous iteration. There has also been a slight change in the tournament format wherein eight teams will be invited, out of which four will be directly seeded into the quater-finals, whereas the other four will wait for their opponents qualified through the qualifiers.
The tournament is slated to begin on February 25, 2014 with the grand finals being held on March 08, 2014. In-game tickets can be purchased via the Dota 2 store for $ 3.99.
Prize-pool distribution:
1st: 60,000 RMB (~$9,800)
2nd: 20,000 RMB (~$3,200)
3rd: 10,000 RMB (~$1,600)
