Yeah, I was checking that and found an excellent open source library that parses a lot of image formats. I was wondering if you are implementing something similar? I was also wondering if Sparticle is open source?

Many artists are used to using DDS image in their drawing tools like PhotoShop. Sparticle supports DDS image just for those artists' convenience. However, I don't suggest using DDS to your final release. Flash doesn't support DDS naturally. You have to write your own code to parse DDS if you use it in your project.

Is there a benefit in using .dds images? By the way, do you know how many different formats Sparticle supports? Really cool work :)
