Cerebrolysin is a neurometabolic stimulator based on neuropeptides (20 percent) and amino acids (80 percent) isolated from pig brain tissue. It was developed in 1949 by Gerhart Harrer, an Austrian professor, and approved on August 1, 1954.

Used as a treatment for:

- Strokes and complications associated with strokes
- Depression, anxiety, and other brain diseases
- Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia
- Traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injuries
- ADHD in children
